How to Enjoy Sakura Season for Muslims

Plan Ahead for a Comfortable Hanami Experience
- Check cherry blossom forecasts – Bloom times vary by location, so plan your visit accordingly.
- Dress in layers – Spring can be chilly. Wear a jacket or sweater during the day and a warm coat in the evening. If you’re sensitive to cold, thermal underwear can help.
- Prepare for allergies – Pollen levels can be high in spring, so bring a mask and allergy medicine if needed
Respect Nature & Other Visitors
- Respect the trees – Avoid picking or shaking the sakura branches.
- Clean up after yourself – Take all trash with you, as many parks have limited garbage bins.
- Be mindful of others – Keep noise levels low and avoid taking up too much space.
Muslim-Friendly Tips
- Plan for prayer – Most parks lack prayer spaces, so bring a portable prayer mat and find a quiet spot.
- Check park rules – Some parks restrict BBQs, large tents, or other activities, so check in advance.
- Choose a suitable spot – Many hanami gatherings include alcohol. If you prefer a quieter setting, look for areas away from drinking groups.
