Indonesian star Arhan is here too at Verdy’s Indonesia Fes

On the day of the match on 4 May, the Japanese football club Tokyo Verdy will hold Indonesia Fes. Visitors can anticipate special goodies, Indonesian food, and the appearance of the Indonesian starlet Pratama Arhan. Arhan is the latest international player to join the club.

Arhan’s first day at Verdy’s clubhouse

Pratama Arhan is an Indonesian football player who just fully transferred to Tokyo Verdy from Indonesia’s PSIS Semarang back in March 2022. The 20-year-old player is also a part of the Indonesian national team. With his impressive displays, he earned several honours: Best Young Player, Best Eleven (Menpora Cup 2021) and Best Young Player of the Tournament (AFF Cup 2020).
At a news conference after joining the club, he remarked that joining the highly skilled Verdy will make him a better player and wishes to contribute in helping the club return to the J1 division.

Thanks to the ‘Arhan Effect’, Verdy’s official Instagram has gained 10 times more followers from around 30,000 to over 400,000. The club has now become the most followed J-League club on Instagram, surpassing Vissel Kobe’s of 280,000 followers.

Supporting Arhan’s Faith

As Arhan is a Muslim, Verdy has taken necessary measures to accommodate his practices, as they know food is one of the problems many foreigners face in Japan.
In a virtual conference held by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, the general manager Ejiri said: “We have discussed about Arhan, including food. Since we understand Muslims have to fast, we already discussed with the head chef that Arhan can’t eat non-halal food”.

“We take very great responsibility for this”, he added.

CEO Tokyo Verdy Takaaki Nakamura also explained that they have researched on how to make sure Arhan can do his activities comfortably before he joined the club, as they value mutual understanding and diversity.

Indonesia Fes: Connecting Japan and Indonesia through Football

In the Indonesian Fes, Tokyo Verdy will play against Vegalta Sendai at Ajinomoto Stadium, featuring the first appearance of Arhan after joining the club.
There is a special offer for Indonesians living in Japan to buy the tickets at a discounted price (see table below).

Audiences will receive special souvenirs for the first 5,000 visitors; enjoy a performance by the Indonesian Dance Club (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies), and various Indonesian food, such as nasi goreng (fried rice) and nasi campur (rice with assorted side dishes) from the food trucks.
